-

When will KCHS start?
What kind of curriculum will the high school have?
-
It will be a challenging curriculum that will prepare students for college and beyond.
-
The curriculum offerings will be a combination of core subjects, enrichment classes, some electives, and will include independent directed studies and online courses.
-
The curriculum will focus on depth rather than breadth. For example, an emerging idea is that, while not neglecting the contribution of Western civilization/Christianity to our country, significant attention will be given to Asia, and especially to China. Courses would be designed to provide students a guided opportunity to develop an awareness, understanding, and appreciation of its history, cultures, religions, and current economic and political developments. Through offerings such as Mandarin, in-depth research projects, cross-cultural communications and journeys, both actual and virtual, students would be expected when they graduate to have successfully demonstrated our ESLRs (Expected School-wide Learning Results) in a cross-cultural context.
Will KCHS have extra-curricular activities?
-
We will look into extra-curricular activities that would be appropriate for a small school.
-
We will look into joining the ILH for sports such as basketball, volleyball, tennis and cross country and will investigate PAC-5 for other sports.
-
Two major student trips are envisioned: To Washington D.C. and to China.
Where will KCHS be located?
-
The goal in the master plan is to provide classrooms on our block.
-
The estimated completion date for that project is unknown at the present time. Most likely, classrooms in our current main building and/or nearby facilities in the community will be utilized until the high school classrooms are built.
How will the high school be funded?
